Which Certifications For Diamonds Are The Best?

Gem-Ex Certificates Are The Best Certificates On Diamonds In The World.

Since 1999, there has been technology has been around to measure the sparkle or overall light performance of a diamond.  This leading technology was created by Gem-Ex.  It is the only certificate that can tell the consumer, with cut, color and clarity, overall which is the better diamond.   Any good store in America, if they have a great diamond, will have a Gem-Ex Light Performance Certificate on that diamond. It tells you instantly how good that diamond is compared to another.  It is the reality of the diamond not theory.  At Arthur’s, our diamonds are all Gem-Ex Certified.

The Today Show On NBC Partners With Gem-Ex

The Today show used the expertise of Gem-Ex to evaluate the cut grade of diamonds sold by New York Retailers.  It was a special edition before Valentines Day to help couples understand diamonds.  Diamonds sold to the Today Show as being the best cut grade, were actually not that good after all after Gem-Ex evaluated them. The Today Show exposed the terms used by many New York Retailers to describe cut like, Premium Cut, Ideal Cut, Well Cut, Near Ideal Cut and Excellent Cut.  These terms had no merit and were used by salespeople only as a sales ploy.  The diamonds did not rate high once they were graded by Gem-Ex.  This is why you want a Gem-Ex Certificate on any diamond you buy, it tells you the truth about the diamond.  Any reputable store will have Gem-Ex Certificates on their diamonds.

Other Good Certificates For Diamonds AGS and GIA

Other certificates are based on theory and give the consumer the color, clarity, carat weight and in theory the cut grade of a diamond.  The next best certificate is the AGS ( American Gem Society ).  It is the only other certificate that grades the cut for the consumer.  Other certificates use generic descriptions like excellent, good, very good adjectives which have no scientific basis.  Cut grades are left off other certificates because that is where jewelers make 50% of their profit.  That is why you can trust Arthur’s, we tell the consumer the cut grade on every diamond we sell. Arthur’s is the only jeweler that will do this currently in the state of Minnesota on every diamond.

Read on under diamond education to learn about the proper cut scale of
“0 – 10”.

The GIA certificate only tells the consumer the accurate color and clarity grade of a diamond.  It does not properly relay the cut grade or light performance of a diamond.  That is why it is considered the 3rd best certificate on a diamond.

What About Other Certificates We See IGI, IDI, AIG or any other?

As reported by Dateline on TV July 23, 2005, which did an expose on the jewelry trade, other certificates are false and represent amateur night out for grading diamonds.  Many diamonds with these false certificates are off by as many as 5 grades.  WATCH OUT.

These certificates are used by chains, mall stores and others to make more money.  They do not come with Gem-Ex, AGS or GIA certificates because the diamond quality is vastly over rated.  This allows mall and chain stores to increase their profit, at the expense of the consumer.  It is recommended not to buy from stores that offer IGI, IDI, AIG or other certificates.  You can trust Arthur’s, we have only the best and most accurate certificates on our diamonds.  Our family has your interest best at heart.

Many of Arthur’s Diamonds are even double certified with both Gem-Ex and AGS or GIA certificates on our diamonds.  Arthur’s is the most accurate jeweler in Minnesota for grading accuracy.  Arthur’s is the only diamond laboratory in Minnesota and the 5 state area.
