The STAR 129 diamond is the greatest innovation the diamond industry has ever seen.
In the year 2000, Star Diamond wanted to create a diamond that would not only be the most brilliant diamond in the industry, but be affordable as well. The creation of the Star 129 was made possible with advancements in state-of-the-art laser cutting technology. While most diamonds are still entirely cut by hand and are subject to human error, Star 129 diamonds are created with the latest computer guided lasers, which allow all Star 129 diamonds to be cut with 129 precisely placed facets. The Star 129 has more opportunities to shine than other diamonds because it is based on an intricate and exacting geometrical formula, creating an incredible amount of brilliance never achieved before.
Imagine if we were still using the first cellular phones that were ever developed as opposed to today’s technology. For decades, the diamond industry has followed the traditional formula for cutting a regular 58 faceted round brilliant diamond and still does. The formula was created in 1919 by Marcel Tolkowsky, almost 100 years ago. This traditional way of cutting has allowed cutters to maximize the profit of their diamonds, by cutting diamonds for weight retention and not beauty. Cut drives 45% of the value of a diamond and 90% of what we see; the diamond’s sparkle.
